Venus

It is the third brightest star in the sky, after the Sun and the Moon. That is why it is named after the goddess of love and beauty. It is a planet that hides its charms under a thick layer of suffocating clouds. And although it is the one that can come closest to us, it is one of the most unknown.

Diameter

Venus is 12,104 km in diameter and here it is 1.2 cm. On this scale it would be as small as a chickpea.

Duration of the day

The day on Venus is 117 Earth days, equivalent to four months.

Year duration

On Venus the year lasts 225 Earth days. Not even two Venusian days go by in a year.

Distance to the sun

108.2 million km. On this scale are the 108.2 meters that separate you from the Sun, located in the observatory.

Satellites

This planet does not have any satellites. We couldn't see any moon.

Composition

It is a solid planet made of rocks similar to those on Earth and with a dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide.

Surface temperature

It is 460 ˚C both day and night.

Gravity

We would notice 90% of the force of attraction on Earth. A 50 kg person would weigh 45 kg. And you?

Density

Its density of 5.2 g / cm3 is similar to that of the Earth and the minerals hematite, magnetite or pyrite.

Did you know...

… That on the surface of Venus we would notice an atmospheric pressure like here on Earth at 900 m below sea level?

… That the greenhouse effect caused by carbon dioxide causes the temperature to be higher than on Mercury?
